Hi There: I hope you have a relaxing weekend planned!!
I took some really nice veggies and fresh lettuce to Pomegranate Marke and the Food Coop this week so I hope you will stop in and check them out.
It has been nice to have a few weeks off from market but I miss all my loyal customers. I actually had the chance to pick up a book and am getting back to the gym.
It is sad to see the gardens empty but I still have a few items in the tunnel left. We purchased a new 30x48 High Tunnel (Still sitting in the yar) and hope to have completely up before the weather gets to cold so that it will be ready to go as soon as possible in the Spring. I have been working on drying Pumpkin and Gourd seeds for next years planting. I try to save my seeds then I know they are not chemically altered and only purchase organic seeds.

...
I wanted to let you know that I will be at the Christmas Open House at Landscape Garden Center on November 17th and 18th (Saturday and Sunday) I will have Jams and Jellies and some other canned goods. I will also be bringing some breads, baked goods and some Christmas ideas for you. My friend LeAnn will be bringing her wonderful soaps and she really has some neat Christmas Ideas for gift-giving or just to keep for yourself to enjoy. I will also be bring some information on our CSA (Weekly Produce Delivery Option) for next years crop.

I have had some calls for Pies and specialty items for Thanksgiving so if you are in need of some fresh baked goodies (and you don't have to make them) give me a call (605) 366-3479 or send me an email and I would be happy to help you out
Enjoy your weekend and I will send out reminders for the upcoming Open House at Landscape Garden Centers November 17th and 18th

Check us out on Facebook!!

As my husband would say, the last rains we have received are worth a million bucks and everything is growing great in the gardens.  Just finished planting some transplants of additional tomatoes, peppers, leeks and brussel sprouts!!  Check us out on Facebook for recent pictures of the gardens. It is really exciting to see things thriving and looking great.  New items planted this year include kale, romaine lettuce, strawberry spinach, dried beans, chives and garlic.  We are probably going to be ready to roll with Farmers Market in 2-3 weeks!!    In addition to Harrisburg this year on Wednesday nights and Saturday mornings, we will also be at Landscape Garden Center on Saturday Mornings from 9-2 on South Minnesota Avenue. Listen to their radio show and email notification when we are ready to go at that location. REMEMBER TO CHECK US OUT ON FACEBOOK FOR SOME GREAT PICTURES OF THE GARDENS!!

Exciting News!!

The First High Tunnel Building is up and Planted!!

We have completed the building of our First Tunnel and planted last Saturday with Tomatoes, Peppers, Eggplant, Cabbage, Broccoli and Cauliflower!! We are very excited but nervous as this is a whole new adventure for us this season.  Learning the best practices of High Tunnel buildings is certainly a challenge for us and a good learning experience as we hope to have a larger High Tunnel up later this Spring.

I was fortunate to attend some classes on Farmers Market and developing a good business plan and developing online marketing and networking.  I am very excited to add new locations and feel confident that we will have the products to support them and to continue to expand our business and provide new items to sell.  We have also planted Potatoes, Leeks, Walla Walla Onions as well as the first planting of Peas and Brussel Sprouts along with additional Onion varieties and Zucchini.  The rest of the seedlings have been started and will be planting a number of additional items this week as it appears the last of the frost is gone.

We will keep you updated on our progress and just as soon as we have product that will be ready.  Have a great week and hopefully we will get an additional shot of moisture!!

April Showers!!

With the beautiful green grass, we need the April Showers to really feel like Spring is here!!  We have started planting of some of the hardier crops to ensure no issues with a late snow. The top is going up on our first high tunnel building and we are excited/anxious/nervous to learn the ropes of this new endeavor.  We have approximately 1000 seeds started in the greenhouse and are very excited to get them in the ground.  We have expanded our gardens this year again to bring you even more varieties and wonderful options for fresh produce for you and your family!!  We are also planning on expanding our locations this year to provide fresh produce to more people.  Will keep you updated and enjoy the wonderful sunny weather.

We have placed our orders and will be starting our indoor planting very soon.  I will continue to update our blog and let you know of our progress.  Enjoy the weather and Spring will be here before you know it!!
